Ideas so far.

I'm thinking about doing a retro-scope animation... Or maybe just doing something freehand. Freehand would probably be less time consuming, which is a good idea, considering I don't have a Mac or any of the necessary programs to make an animation on my computer. Hm...

  1. It's good that you're starting to come up with ideas Karisa. If you read the booklet I gave you a little closer, you'll notice that it's "rotoscope" animation, not "retro-scope".

Remember also, as I said in class, making your assignment choices based on what you think will be less time-consuming, rather than choosing something that you think will be a good animation, even it IS going to be time-consuming and challenging is a bad way to be starting out.

You don't need a Mac to do the assignment, Adobe Flash works on both PC and Mac and as I've already said in class, if you can't work on it at home, the Media Room is open every lunch time, recess time and after school every day, all term. That means that even if you don't have a computer at home at all, you could still be doing an extra 12 hours a week on your animation outside of class time, just while you're at school without even working on it at home at all.

Obviously, I don't expect you to spend that much time on it each week, but that time IS available to you if you want to put that much time into it. So, think about what you think would make a good animation and make decisions based on making something that you think you'll be proud of at the end, rather than just something you managed to scrape together by the due date.

Rotoscoping would be great. Time consuming, but as I just pointed out, everything in Media is going to be time consuming. You already know that...so choose something that you will find challenging and then rise to the challenge.

    Good luck.

  2. Oh. Whoops. "Rotoscope". I'll remember that next time.
Yeah, I was planning on staying after school to do the animation, anyways. My computer can stuff up sometimes. I don't want to risk something happening to all my work. And yeah, I have a few ideas, actually; I'm in the midst of picking one of them. It's harder than I thought it would be!

    Thanks, Mr Hall.
